Frequently Asked Questions

How are Fame Points used to calculate the winner?

The final subject is selected at random based on their number of Fame Points. Someone with a higher number of Fame Points has a better chance of being selected, however the person with the most Fame Points will not be selected automatically. In effect, each Fame Point gives you one extra chance of winning. Simply signing up with no fame points will give you a chance of winning.

One candidate will be selected using this process and asked to communicate with the Fame Experiment in private to determine their capability to reflect upon their experience in their blog. Should this person have any difficulties with this task, another random selection will be made. No other methods of selection will be used.

Can I participate without being in the running?

You can still contribute to the experiment if you do not meet the requirements or are not looking to become the subject. Simply sign up as usual and select the "Opt out of contest" checkbox. If you decide to opt out down the line, you can still select that checkbox within your profile at a later date. Even if you are selected, you will still be asked to confirm your preference before phase 2 begins.

Can I include a banner on my Facebook page?

Absolutely! Simply add this application to your Facebook profile. Once you authorize it to access your information on Facebook, you can enter your Fame ID (found on the left box of this page if you are logged in) and choose a banner to display. Each time somebody clicks on one of these images from your Facebook profile, you will earn the predetermined number of fame points.

Can I help earn fame points for another user?

Yes you can, however the process is a little bit more difficult. You will need to ask that user for their Fame ID, which can be found on their left panel. If you wish to earn points for that user on your website or blog using the code found on the Earn Fame Points page, you will need to replace the xx in (for example) http://www.fameexperiment.com/aff/xx/1 with their Fame ID. If you're using the Facebook application, simply use their ID in the banner selection screen.
